Managing Your Energetic Footprint

As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve been talking a lot about lucky days recently, as well as what types of activities are favored during these times and how to maximize your luck when it does show up.

One of the main things I find myself suggesting—especially during those times when Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and/or the sun are highlighted—is to send off materials that represent you (and/or your business). For example: résumés, headshots, submissions of your writing or art, email marketing or flyers, cards to clients or business associates, videos or TV/radio communications or, basically any written, recorded or visual communication that has the potential to further your goals.

And while face-to-face and spoken communications are also favored during lucky times (particularly those with strong Mercury influences), in this article, I want to concentrate on those communications that you somehow “send off” whether by mail, email, the airwaves (as in radio and TV), or “posting” on a website.

What you are doing is sending out an energetic representation of yourself. You are not actually there when the recipient reads, sees or hears your message, but your “energetic footprint” is there as a stand-in for you.

For example, I have given away thousands of business cards. But I find it interesting that during certain times, I get a lot of comments from clients (some that I haven’t spoken to in a long time) such as, “I was cleaning and found your card,” or “your card just fell out of a book.”

You see, that card has my energy imprint on it. It is an energetic representative (an agent, if you will) for me and my business. And when my energy is up, (positive, high-vibration and all that) it follows that the energy of anything that represents me goes up as well, hence the “jumping” business card.

That’s pretty cool, I think. But if you’re thinking it’s a bit woo-woo, bear with me.

In face-to-face or even phone encounters, it’s apparent that your unspoken feelings color the communication, or that, if you’re not feeling your best—particularly in regards to the job you’re being asked to do or the person to whom you’re speaking—you usually don’t make as good of an impression.

Once upon a time when I used to work at a bookstore, the owner knew that when she was feeling anxious about making the rent, she would do better to stay at home or take her thoughts off that anxiety (since it was her bookstore, and therefore a representation of her energy). The same goes for my business. When I’m focusing on what I perceive I’m not getting, I continue not to receive the business. By the way, this is true in any area of life. Think about it. What happens when you focus on everything you’re not getting from your partner? This is just simple Law of Attraction.

And can anyone deny that email has its own energy? I’m sure every one of us has received a “nice” email from someone at work…in which we could just feel the not-so-nice energy seething between the lines. So if the grammar and language were impeccable (and it wasn’t in all caps!) how did we know?

I forget where I read this quote, or who said it first, so I’m paraphrasing, but it goes something like this: Live as if your every action, word, thought, and feeling were being broadcast across the Universal airwaves…because they are!

I’m always saying to clients that it is important to keep oneself centered throughout the day, or, in other words, to keep one’s energy at a high vibration (as in, as close as possible to how you feel after finishing a yoga class or deep meditation). But, for most people (only about 99.9%), that goes directly against everything they have been taught, and the habitual way they’ve been living since sometime around age two or three.

First of all, most of us don’t breathe correctly. A baby knows how to breathe: inflating the belly, then the chest. Most adults breathe shallowly, from the chest only. This sends a message to the brain that all is not well, so essentially, most people are walking around in a mild state of panic (which, of course, is no good for the body, either).

Secondly, we’ve been taught, from the earliest age, to be goal-oriented, to put the work first, to “tough it out”, and in many cases, put the interests of the other person before your own (for women, in particular). And because we have been living this way, we find this “evidenced” in our work and home lives. Hitting the ground running, and sapping our own personal resources in order to manage the job, the relationship, the family, seems to be the only way to hold it all together… (“I don’t have time to meditate”) and we wonder why we feel energetically spent every evening.

But if your main goal is keeping your energy at a high vibration throughout the day—and stopping to do any needed re-centering or repairing of your energy—then everything you send out will be activated by this high vibration, which is very attractive to what you want. Your business cards might jump out of books or suddenly be found in wallets. Your résumé might just make it through the screening process and be seen at the right time by the right person. And of course, in face-to-face communications, your message is clearer and more likely to achieve its desired result. .
